We're genius'

I could be alone on this one, and perhaps I am, but so what. This is my page. There were many reasons that the U.S was attacked on Sept. 11th and still continues to be attacked both here and overseas. And in my opinion some of the main reasons are that we are so ego-centric, greedy, oppulent, and arrogent. I'm not saying innocent people should have lost their lives because we, as a country, are these things, but I do think that now that our poor charecteristic traits have been brought to the worlds attention on such a large scale we should do something about it. Having such a cocky self-image as the U.S does is horrific. We need to change, we need to become more humble and not always assume that our way is the best way. If we don't learn from our past mistakes and short-commings then how can we ever expect to grow as a nation. We should not let innocent lives perish in vain. We need to reevaluate our way of existance. I think the problem is that most people feel like if they do re-evaluate then they are "letting the terrorists win", but that is so not true. I was taught that when something terrible happens to you, you evaluate it and learn from it. This needs to happen now. But unfortunatly it doesn't look like its going to, esp. not when plans for the "freedom tower" are in full swing. How did that conversation even go?
"Uh, hey guys we were recently attacked cause of our arrogence and oppulence as well as other negative charecteristics in the manner in which we conduct our lives, so im thinking we need to put up some new buildings."
"Sweet. ok i know, lets errect the biggest, tallest, baddest building in the world!!! It'll be just like we're giving the middle finger to the rest of those bastards"
"yeah! We're the best!"
