you

Did I ask too much?
More than a lot.
You gave me nothing,
Now it's all I've got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again....

And I can't be holding on
To what
You got
When all
You've got is hurt

Study Shows Babies Try to Help - Yahoo! News

Before I entered the business world I spent my adolescence as a camp counselor, life guard and, for the last few years before starting at Hydrotech, as a nanny and I am so glad this study came out. People thought I was crazy when I would share stories about experiences I'd encounter. Kids, and especially toddlers, are so much smarter than people give them credit for and not only does this study elude to that, but also shows an innate goodness. They want to help.

I think this study also supports the belief that kids can sense what you are going through. I remember calling my mom up when I was sitting with a new family and I could not get the baby to stop crying for almost an hour. We sang, we danced, we walked, we swung, etc. I finally called up mama Gina in tears myself not knowing what to do and she told me that if I didn't calm down Georgia wouldn't either. And wouldn't you know, Gina was dead on. Georgia knew how uptight and nervous I was and I was making her uncomfortable. Go figure, she was empathizing with me. And she was only 5 months old!

Another quick story I'm going to bore you with, well you can't be that bored if you've hung in here with me for this long, has to do with my cousin Sam. When I was 20 and he was 18 months I got my tongue pierced. I was pretty careful not to go flashing it around and having a long drawn out discussion (read: getting yelled at) with my parents but one day while I was giving Sam a bath he noticed it. Whenever we were alone he would look at me and stick out his tongue and I would do the same. One afternoon my cousin (his mom) Susan came in the room as Sam was trying to get me to show him my ring and he immediately stopped. The moment Susan turned around he motioned for me to show him and I did, and sure enough when Susan looked at us Sam looked away. He was barely a year and a half and he was so with it without my even telling him it was our secret!

Ok enough about my nannying days. I really can't believe I miss it as much as I do especially after this post orignally dated, December 17, 2006

i clearly need to work on my resume

i refuse to believe that the only job I, a senior honors student at Fordham University, am qualified to do is look after an infant and watch endless hours of the wiggles...www.thewiggles.com..and listen to the bi-lingual tickle-me-elmo sing the sesame street theme song in spanish.los días asoleados que barren las nubes lejos en mi manera a donde está dulcepueden usted el aire decirme cómo conseguir cómo conseguir a sesame streetyeah, thats my life. i drive home with that in my head.

In conclusion, I'm really just glad a study was done that isn't painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Blue is the sky, blue is the flag of Israel and blue is not red.

McDonald's changes sign to woo kosher diners - Yahoo! News:

So the deal is as follows, Isrealis were having trouble identifiying if a McDonalds was Kosher from far away so McDonalds changed their signs from Red/Yellow to Red/Blue. Personally, I refuse to believe McDonalds meat can ever be up to high standards regardless of what color the sign is. I'm more concerned about what color the "meat" is. Don't get me wrong, I have been known to partake in their food, but let's call a spade a spade, it's not real meat so does it really matter what is served along side it?

"Roi Gerstein was unmoved. 'I do not like this change because I am used to the red sign,' he said, adding that kosher burgers without cheese were 'just not tasty'. "

That's just fantastic, one of the most well known corporations in the world is taking another step to accomodate and fit into a locale and the ending quote comes from a guy who is pissed cause kosher burgers without cheese were 'just not tasty'. Classic. Sans cheese or course, since we are keeping it kosher.
